Hasbro- Mr Amaze a Matic.

Well, this might been perhaps the most scarce and rare robot in my collection over the past 20 years. I ONLY saw this robot before in the Belgian Caves ( Xris ) and fell in love with it at once.. OF course Xris has all the rare ones and finding those is like a needle in a haystack, till, back in i believe 2017 my best friend Martijn did an amazing find.. a boxed ! Mr Amaze a Matic in fantastic condition 🙂 I begged him for i believe 2 years to sell it to me and of course the robot ended up in the Dutch Caves but.. the price was high ! 🙂

Mr Amaze A Matic is an unusual plastic battery operated robot. The robot has a clear plastic cylindrical body with a large circular black head perched on a slender tapering neck. The body contains odd hoop shaped plastic rods in a variety of colors. Long plastic arms reach down to the ground. A set of tracks allow it to move. The movement is controlled by plastic punch cards. It is possible to program a sequence of manoeuvres including running an obstacle course and retrieving various plastic objects. Dated 1970 on the box. ( source: alphadrome )

Now the box tells us something interesting, made in the USA by Hasbro BUT…the Track mechanism is made in Japan ! Further the box is clear about this robot: “You make him go where you want and you make him do what you want 🙂 how cool !

The condition of this robot is all original and complete with some things to mention. First the robot is not working and i never had any interest of making it work again. All is there and untouched but i dont want to mess with this piece of rare and scarce robot history so it has been on my shelves eversince… The tracks ( the red rubber ones ) are gone so i made replacement tracks for the toy. they fit perfectly and make the robot complete again. Futher inside is one of the clear plastic parts loose and that needs to be glued back in place.. however you have to force the toy to open it up with all the risks of damage so I left it as it was.

There are some original obstacles and punching cards present, so the robot is close to complete.
The box is rought, has a big hole in one of the side panels BUT… thank god its there. its the original box…!!

Make no mistakes here. this is perhaps the most rare and scarce robot and box that will EVER hit your collection !! Never saw an other example in the market or auction house in the past 17 years..
