Modern Toys - X-07 Space Surveillant

Whenever I go on vacation I mostly spent my holidays in france and italy. On my last trip in Italy I visited a small village where I found an old toyshop and with old i mean REALLY OLD :) I bumped into a spacetoy and my first impression was: " Oh, a space surveillant, pretty common " but man I was wrong again, proves I am human :)

Build in Japan in the early 1960`s by Modern Toys ( Masudaya) in Japan. This odd shaped spaceship has been made out of tin with a plastic dome and lights. It comes with Non-fall action ( not bump&go ) and was designed to " fly " on a table without falling from that same table by an ingenious mechanism. The spaceship is driven by an astronaut also made out of TIN and not as usual by an vinyl ( plastic ) astronaut.

I always thought this space surveillant was only made in one version but man I was wrong, the litho, astronaut and also the box are different. This is an early version with a much nicer AND much more scarce and rare box. 

The condition of this spaceship is excellent. It shows normal playwear. the dome and lights are free of cracks and the batterycompartments are clean. It works perfectly. The Space Surveillant is accompanied by its original box ( look at the great artwork !! ) the box is excellent to near mint. 

At first sight.... a " normal "  Space Surveillant X-07 but its not... Its a rare and scarce version, different litho, astronaut AND box. all original.
