Yonezawa - Arctic Explorer Sled

This spacetoy is for sure one of my personal favorites. I found this one in Italy in an old toystore where it was covered with 20 years of dust, really unbelievalble dirty toy. I took it home and found out the sled was not in working order but was complete exept one small rail on one of the pods. I cleaned the sled with a white wet towel that changed to black very fast :) when i was done cleaning there was one of the most beautifull spacetoys made in the 60 in front of me, A Yonezawa - Arctic Explorer Sled.  A complete toy both propellors and original antenna still attached and ALSO the small friction powered sled hanging at the rear of the ship was still present. I never thought I would bump into such a complete and near mint sled ever.

After cleaning the contacts of the batterycompartment I put in fresh battaries and then something happend what I allready expected, the toy really came alive, the propellors started to spin, the antanna turned, the lights fired up and the sled was again ready to explore its white surroundings..

The actions of this very rare spacetoy are great: it comes with a 3 phase sequence:  first it stands still with only the antenna rotating, after a few seconds the engines are fired up and the propellors start to spin. when they make speed enough, the sled moves forward. all with blinking lights in front of the pods and also the cabine with the six astronauts in control is lit.

The little sled at the back of the ship is friction powered with also a little prop at the back. its also complete and in working order.

Yonezawa`s Arctic Explorer Sled is in excellent condition and has not much been played with. Its all complete, original and in working order. There is no rust, the batterycompartment is cristal clean, there are no dings and the ship only shows very light playwear, but I think its more from storage then its from playing with. There is one rail missing on one of the pods but that can be easily replaced. The small sled is also complete and in excellent condition, AND is present.

This spaceship is so rare that you will have a hard job to ever find it again in any condition. This spacetoy was mainly sold in Italy ( no idea why but I will find out ) and had an extremely low survivalrate because of its complex structure and parts that could be lost easily.

This spacetoy will become the centerpiece of any collection easilly.
Very scarce and very rare and hard to find in any condition.
